The HD-01 came from Gosha Rubchinskiy’s last Yeezy drop, and wore a newspaper’s name

Вестник Трибун. Two words of Cyrillic in black gothic type, straight across the chest of a cropped white hoodie. yeezy.com called it the HD-01 and sold it for $20 at Christmas 2024, and it’s from the last drop Gosha Rubchinskiy made for Ye.

Rubchinskiy had been YZY’s head of design for about a year by then, an appointment Hypebeast called controversial and Ye called “a milestone in design history”. He’d worked on the artwork for Vultures before that. Six weeks after this hoodie went on sale, he announced he’d left.

Nine pieces, one newspaper

Hypebeast’s Joyce Li wrote up the drop on 26 Dec 2024. It’s nine pieces in white, grey and black, from tight tees and cropped hoodies to sweatpants, shorts and socks, each $20 “once again”. The type pays homage to The New York Herald Tribune, she wrote, and takes from Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless.

yeezy.com’s own data is plainer. Each colour’s a number (02 white, 03 mocha, 04 charcoal), and the SKUs spell the print out: hoodie-white-herald-of-tribune. The pages were created on 22 Dec 2024, and they’re tagged christmas.

Dark on dark

On the white and the mocha the type’s black. On the charcoal it’s tonal, and you have to look for it. The back’s plain. It’s boxy through the body and short at the hem, with a kangaroo pocket and nothing else, and yeezy.com listed a blank HD-01 alongside it.

Tokyo, two months early

The words didn’t stop at the hoodie. They ran down the leg of the SP-01 sweatpant, sat at the hip of the SP-06 jogger and crossed the back of the RC-01 raincoat. Ye had worn the white SP-01 in Tokyo two months before any of it went on sale: TMZ’s footage from 30 Oct 2024 shows Вестник Трибун down the left leg.

On 7 Feb 2025 Rubchinskiy posted that his partnership with Yeezy had reached its conclusion.
