The $80 Second Skin was the plainest thing in Yeezy Gap’s Balenciaga line

The first people to see a Second Skin didn’t see a face. Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga’s February 2022 lookbook put the range on masked models, and Highsnobiety said they looked like locked game character skins. The masks stayed on for the store photos too.

Take the masks away and there isn’t much branding to find either. No arch, no dove, no print. There’s a blue tab at the neck and a small square label on the chest, and that’s it. Next to the Dove pieces it’s about as quiet as the line got, and it came in two cuts that don’t fit alike.

Five Second Skins, two long sleeves

The Second Skins went up on yeezygap.com with the drop of 27 May 2022. There were five, and they weren’t all cut for the same body. A women’s tank, a women’s sleeveless and a men’s sleeveless each retailed at $60 (2022). The long sleeve came in a women’s cut (471284) and a men’s cut (471301), both at $80, in black and dark green.

77% polyester, one hidden pocket

The store copy didn’t waste words: 77% polyester, 23% spandex, bodycon fit, seamless chest pocket. You’d barely see the pocket. Highsnobiety called it subtle, and said the whole range carried only a tiny bit of GAP branding.

The two cuts aren’t the same shirt, and the store sized them apart. Its men’s model, 6’2” and 170 lbs, wore a medium. Its women’s model, 5’8” and 115 lbs, wore an XS.

“New” in August

Highsnobiety wrote the Second Skins up as a new drop on 12 Aug 2022, calling the range basics. That was the week the YR 3022 YZYGAP SHDZ sunglasses shoot surfaced, with Lil Uzi Vert standing next to Ye in the black sleeveless. The store’s own pages had carried the range since May, though, so it wasn’t new.

The dark green women’s long sleeve was still up on yeezygap.com on 23 Sep 2022. A month later, Gap pulled the line and the site went with it.
