Ye’s store sold a plain tee in 2024. Its SKU started with YZYGAP

The product code gave it away, and it wasn’t subtle. The Wayback Machine caught yeezy.com on 26 and 27 Apr 2024. Ye’s store was listing a plain tee as the YZY SHORT SLEEVE T-SHIRT, in black, dark grey and taupe. Every SKU started with YZYGAPSSTEE. Black and dark grey were in stock. Taupe had already sold out.

Gap never sold this tee. It was made for Yeezy Gap and stranded when the partnership ended. yeezy.com is the only official store on record that ever put it on sale, and for a blank tee, it’s the route that makes it an archive piece.

Missing from yeezygap.com

It isn’t among the 127 products the Wayback Machine archived on yeezygap.com between December 2021 and October 2022. On 25 Oct 2022 Gap said it had shut down YeezyGap.com and was taking Yeezy Gap product out of its stores. For a while that looked like the end of it.

It wasn’t. On 3 Mar 2024 the black tee’s address on yeezy.com was still a dead link. By late April it was live, 18 months after Gap pulled the line, with the old partnership still written into the code. The listing photos carry file stamps of 26 and 27 Feb 2024. That dates the photos rather than the sale, but they’re yeezy.com’s own shots.

1” turnup, 1” rib collar

yeezy.com’s description was a single line: MEDIUM WEIGHT TEE WITH 1” TURNUP AND 1” RIB COLLAR. There’s a blue YZY tab inside the neck. It’s 100% cotton, and the care label says made in Vietnam.

By July 2024 it had reached Amazon too, listed as the YZY Yeezy GAP H02, with the same fibre. Resellers use the same name, and the same H codes run through the other Yeezy Gap pieces Gap never sold.

It’s a blank: no arch, no dove, no print. What it had instead was a blue tab at the neck and six letters at the front of its SKU.
