Ye wore the 350 Turtle Dove four weeks early, then again in black

Ye walked the CFDA Fashion Awards carpet at Alice Tully Hall in New York on 1 Jun 2015 with Kim Kardashian, dressed in black. The shoes were Yeezy Boost 350s in Turtle Dove, and nobody could buy them for another four weeks. Nineteen days later he’d wear them again, with bleached jeans, performing at the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

It’s the first 350, the low-top that followed the 750, and wearing it before anyone else could was about to become Ye’s habit. It dropped on 27 Jun 2015. By December, Footwear News had named the Yeezy Boost its Shoe of the Year.

Turtle Dove broke the Confirmed app

Models had already walked it in Turtle Dove and in black at Yeezy Season 1 that February, Boardroom recalled. The knit’s Blue Grey Primeknit in an all-over pattern. There’s a red stitch on the heel tab and a white TPU cage around full-length Boost.

adidas opened reservations on its Confirmed app on 25 Jun 2015, and the app didn’t hold up. Hypebeast reported users couldn’t reserve, and adidas halted reservations for New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. A few people got orders in early on adidas.com by mistake. adidas cancelled them.

Agoura Hills, in a pair nobody had announced

Ye was in the black pair by early July. Nice Kicks ran photos of him in Agoura Hills, outside Los Angeles, on 3 Jul 2015, and adidas hadn’t said a word about it. It confirmed the Pirate Black on 14 Aug for a 22 Aug release. Three days out, Bloomberg photographed shoppers already camped outside Foot Locker on Oxford Street in London.

The black pair came back on 19 Feb 2016 with a blue ankle collar and white stitching down the toe. Hypebeast said that version had first shown on the Yeezy Season 2 runway.

Both came back after 2022

Turtle Dove returned for Yeezy Day on 2 Aug 2022. Pirate Black wasn’t far behind. It was part of adidas’s first sale of leftover Yeezy stock after the split, which opened on 31 May 2023 in the US and a day later elsewhere.

The early pair stuck. In August 2016 Ye was photographed in Midtown Manhattan in a 350 V2 Zebra, and that one didn’t drop for another six months.
