Justin Bieber wore Yeezys on Fallon three days after crying at the VMAs

Justin Bieber sat down next to Jimmy Fallon on 2 Sep 2015 in an Off-White camo jacket, ripped light-wash jeans and a cap, one foot kicked out toward the desk. It’s the foot to watch. On that foot, black suede panel and all, was a Yeezy Boost 350 in Turtle Dove.

Footwear News called them “the original” 350s the next day, and the grey-and-white knit with the YZY panel on the inside matches the pair adidas had shown in June. Turtle Dove was the first 350 colourway, and it hadn’t been out long: it dropped on 27 Jun 2015. Bieber had worn nothing but Yeezy Boosts lately, FN added, 350s and 750s both.

Booed, then back on NBC

Three days earlier he’d cried on stage at the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles, in all-black 350s, Footwear News noted. Fallon asked him about it.

Then he played “What Do You Mean?” with The Roots, in the same camo jacket and the same Turtle Doves. He also gave the album a date: Purpose would be out on 13 Nov, Footwear News and Hypebeast reported. Complex put the jacket in its roundup of who’d been wearing Off-White that summer.

From the couch to the video

The 350s didn’t go back in the box. When the video for “I’ll Show You”, from the same album, came out that November, Bieber’s shoe in it was a Yeezy Boost 350 again, PAUSE Magazine noted.

He’d gone into the VMAs in black 350s. He left Fallon’s studio in grey ones, with an album date.
