In 2020, the 350 V2 you got depended on where you lived

On 22 Feb 2020 adidas split one 350 V2 drop three ways. Tail Light went to Europe, Russia and Ukraine. Earth went to North and Latin America. Flax, a pale yellow, went to Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and India, and nowhere else. Everyone else waited until 30 Sep 2022, when Hypebeast reported it’d finally gone global.

Regional splits weren’t new: the 2019 pairs had gone out the same way. What changed was the palette. Over the next 16 months the 350 V2 went brown, tan, clay and grey, and then the knit itself started to disappear.

Flax: yellow on yellow

All three February pairs had re-engineered Primeknit and a post-dyed monofilament stripe. On Flax that meant yellow on yellow, with a darker yellow sole and heel tab and soft grey laces. It’s been back once since the global drop, on 11 Mar 2024.

Zyon and Sand Taupe, 2020

Zyon came in July. It’s a mix of greys, tans and earthy browns cut through by a solid black stripe, with steel grey trim at the collar and tan laces. Hypebeast had it going out on 18 Jul 2020 through adidas and stockists including END., in kids and infant sizes too.

Sand Taupe was the holiday pair, dated 19 Dec 2020. The tongue, throat and toe are a clay orange, the lower half’s a darker brown, and there’s a translucent stripe between them. The sole’s a semi-translucent coffee colour over white Boost.

Ash Pearl skipped the regional split

Ash Pearl followed the regional Ash Blue and Ash Stone, but it didn’t stay regional. It went out on 20 Mar 2021 in full family sizes, in the US and parts of Europe.

June 2021: the knit goes see-through

Then the whole upper changed. The Mono pack swapped the knit for a semi-translucent monofilament mesh, with the inner cage showing behind it, and brought the heel pull back. The first three split by region again on 18 Jun 2021. Mono Ice went to the Americas, Mono Clay to Asia Pacific, and Mono Mist to Europe, Africa, India and the Middle East. China didn’t miss any of them.

Mono Cinder, the black one, came on 24 Jun 2021, and Hypebeast reported it’d sell only on Yeezy Supply. It’s the end point of the run: a 350 V2 you could see the cage through. Except on Cinder, where Sneaker Freaker’s on-foot photos show the cage all but vanishing into the black.
