The Black Dogs hoodie went on sale at 1:24pm. Ye wore it that night

At 13:24 Pacific on 8 Mar 2024, yeezy.com published a new product: YZY GOSHA BLACK DOGS HOODIE HEATHER GREY. That night, hours after it’d gone up, Ye wore one to a listening party for Vultures 2 in Los Angeles. Page Six described a grey Yeezy hoodie under his go-to Balenciaga leather coat, with black pants and boots. Bianca Censori was with him.

This was Yeezy with no adidas and no Gap behind it. There wasn’t a partner anywhere in the chain: Ye’s own store, his new head of design, a phrase in Russian, and Ye modelling it himself on the day it dropped.

ЧЕРНЫЕ ПСЫ, filed under gosha

The print is Russian: ЧЕРНЫЕ ПСЫ, black dogs, across the chest. yeezy.com tagged the product gosha, after Gosha Rubchinskiy. Complex had reported his appointment as Yeezy’s head of design that December. The rest of the drop wasn’t far behind. Hypebeast listed it the next day: a T-shirt and sweatpants in the same grey, and socks in grey and black, all fronted with the phrase.

There’s no S, M or L. The hoodie came in 1 (XS-S), 2 (M-L) and 3 (L-XL), the same three-number system Yeezy had used on the YZY Pods a few months before.

Ten days later, in black

Ye didn’t wear it once and move on. Page Six had him back out in Los Angeles on 18 Mar 2024, again with Censori, in the black version, with baggy track pants. The print’s tonal on the black, but it still reads on the chest in BACKGRID’s photos.

Six months, ten months, one afternoon

For most of the adidas years, what Ye wore in public didn’t line up with what anyone could buy. He had the 350 V2 Zebra on in Midtown six months before it released, and the Wave Runner ten months before the first pairs shipped.

The Black Dogs hoodie was on sale before he’d even left for the party.
